Adams State College

Plachy Hall Renovation and Addition

Fortune Favors the Bold
Andy Dufford; Denver, Colorado
Budget: $64,000

To be installed summer 2009
Andrew Dufford’s piece will be placed on the exterior of Plachy Hall and provide a strong sense of arrival and entry to the building. It will include a seating area and a trophy stone with a medallion. The Trophy Stone will be visible from all access walks and the seating will be sandstone boulders sculptured to provide seating with a comfortable backrest. The area will provide a more intimate and casual space for smaller groups of students and visitors. The medallion will be reminiscent of the medals awarded to athletes at Adams State for outstanding performance and will be cast in bronze. The final images will be tailored to the history and culture of the College. The sculpture which holds the stone will be made out of native buff colored sandstone and have a 12” wide channel that will be etched with a series of glyphs representing the sports of the College.
